Argentina face Switzerland as the teams look set to book their Quarterfinal berth.
Lionel Messi of Argentina is expected to star in the match.
Argentina and Switzerland have played each other in three previous occasions and Argentina have gone undefeated throughout. They have managed two victories while one has ended in a draw. The most recent match between the side ended 3-1 in favor of Argentina.
Argentina won all the matches of the group to accumulate perfect nine points in the Group Stage. They started their campaign with a rather unconvincing 2-1 win over and then followed it up with a 1-0 win over Iran. Lionel Messi has scored in all three matches, a brace in the final match but his last minute strike in win over Iran has been peak of those goals. Argentina finished their Group stage with a 3-2 victory over Nigeria despite Nigeria leveling the match twice with help of Ahmed Musa’s brace.
Switzerland were second in their group behind France after winning two out of three matches in their group. They started their tournament with a 2-1 win over Ecuador, which included a last minute winner from Sefferovic. They however were in the receiving end in the following match as they lost out 5-2 to the table toppers France. Xherdan Sahqiri’s hat trick in the final match meant they would seal their knockout stage berth win a 3-0 win over Honduras in the final match of the group stage.
Team News:
Sergio Aguero has been ruled out of the World Cup and Ezequiel Lavezzi is the best replacement for the Manchester City forward, who was replaced by the PSG winger in previous match as well. Fernando Gago looks set in the midfield alongside Javier Mascherano and should continue to play there.
