SAFF Women’s Championship 2014 – Nepal defeat hosts to Confirm Semifinal

Nepal women’s team register second victory in the tournament to confirm their place in the semifinals of the event as they defeat hosts Pakistan 2-0 in their second match.

Nepal that registered 8-0 victory over Bhutan in the first match continued with the wining streak to defeat hosts in their second match. Both goals came in the first half of the game Anu Lama scored first before Sanjan Rana double the lead for the victories side.

Although Nepal won Pakistan with huge margin of 8-0 in last edition played in Sri Lanka, the defensive display from Pakistan means Nepal could only score two goals.

The defeat for hosts means Pakistan are out of the championship. Nepal will play their third match of the group against Sri Lanka that won both group matches. A victory or a draw for Nepal in Sunday’s Sri Lanka clash means Nepal will enter next round as the group winners.
