Liverpool legend Graeme Souness believes Virgil van Dijk is the best focus back Liverpool have had since Alan Hansen.
Liverpool finished a world-record £75million move for Van Dijk on January 1, with the protector scoring on his presentation in the Merseyside derby in the FA Cup third round. The Dutchman is purportedly out of the club’s conflict with Manchester City with a tight hamstring notwithstanding. Yet, Souness feels Liverpool now have their best focus back since the amazing Hansen, who left in 1991.
“Virgil van Dijk is the best focus back Liverpool have had since Alan Hansen, however the 26-year-old Holland global is preferable noticeable all around over Alan was,” Souness disclosed to The Times. “There’s a contention that marking him for £75m from Southampton and offering Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona for £142m has effectively made Jurgen Klopp’s side more grounded.
