When Nestor Alegre was subbed on for Deportivo Madagaria down in the Argentinian lower leagues, he couldn’t have envisioned the sort of effect he was going to have.
The midfielder was immediately given his marching orders within 10 seconds after coming on against Tiro Federal, which equals the world record set by Giuseppe Lorenzo of Bologna in 1990. Alegre picked up an instant booking for entering the field of play before the referee’s signal, only to quickly receive a second caution for having the temerity to complain about the first.
The midfielder did not even get a touch of the ball and was returning to the dugout.Victor Cordero, the referee on duty, was quick to clear up any lingering confusion after the match.
