Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino up for Premier League player of the month

Liverpool couple Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard and Marco Alonso of Chelsea are among the contenders for the Premier League player of the month award for December.

Harry Kane, Marko Arnautovic, Riyad Mahrez and Nicolas Otamendi are alternate players named. Salah is in following a month in which he scored seven times in the same number of appearances, while Firmino was on target six times this month.

Egypt universal Salah was named the African Player of the Year on Thursday, completing in front of Senegal aggressor and Liverpool colleague Sadio Mane and Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
