Arsenal are confident of signing Schalke midfielder Leon Goretzka on a free transfer at the end of the season. The 22-year-old contract end at the end of this season and is able to sign pre-contract agreements with other clubs this January.
Both Premier League giants Manchester City and Liverpool are thought to be interested in the midfielder and he has attracted interest from across Europe. According to the Daily Mail, Goretzka has made it clear to Schalke that he is not interested in signing a new deal and is full aware of the interest from the Gunners.
The German is likely to ask a large signing-on fee for Goretzka as Arsenal will not need to spend a transfer fee. However, the Gunners should be able to foot the German’s demands after making a profit in last summer’s transfer window.
