FIFA president Gianni Infantino on Wednesday clarified that despite the current diplomatic crisis facing the 2022 hosts, the 2022 World Cup will be held in Qatar .
Talking on the sidelines of the seventh FIFA Executive Football Summits of the 2017-18 arrangement held at the Shangri-La , Infantino said, “There is no doubt that 2022 World Cup is taking place in Qatar. I also hope that there would be broad collaboration and cooperation for the World Cup between the countries in the region. At the end of the day, this is a World Cup for the whole region. Everything is on track for the Qatar World Cup”
He said that the current 23rd Gulf Cup held in Kuwait is a case of how football can assume a part in uniting countries.
