Barcelona star Lionel Messi is known to have his say with regards to potential signings and offers of players, with the club having a tendency to illuminate him of the same and it would seem that the Argentinian has had an impact in halting one of the club’s players from moving to Liverpool in the January exchange window.

As per ​Diario Gol, the Reds had apparently asked about ​Sergi Roberto while the two clubs were arranging an arrangement for Philippe Coutinho with the club notwithstanding going to on to indicate enthusiasm for the arrangement just for Messi to advance in and keep the Spaniard from making the move to Anfield.

Liverpool flush from the £142 million they got from offering Coutinho are hoping to fortify their squad with administrator Jurgen Klopp hoping to purchase players justified back and focal midfield positions.

Roberto is known for his flexibility and is fit for playing in the two positions which is something that Klopp is searching for. Messi however had different thoughts, persuading the player to remain at the club and push for an as good as ever contract.
