Arsenal were without their regular captain Per Mertesacker who is out injured, meanwhile vice-captains Santi Cazorla and Petr Cech are also injured which makes Arsenal in a unique situation where they might have breached Premier League’s captaincy rule.

Koscielny

Laurent Koscielny led Arsene Wenger’s side in their 2-2 draw against Manchester City, while he was replaced in second half. It is understood that they did not replace him with a nominated captain for the second half.

Under Premier League Rule M.11, a captain must wear an armband at all times.

An Arsenal spokesperson said that it was not clear if there was captain in the field, but Theo Walcott was senior played on the pitch.

Although it is understood that Wenger will not be fined or punished but will be left out without any further action.
