Real Madrid striker Cristiano Ronaldo has been called the world’s finest player at the inaugural Best FIFA Football Honors in Zurich.

The honor comes off after Ronaldo winning the 61st version of the Ballon d’Or in December complying with an excellent year which saw him attain Champions League as well as Euro 2016 success with Real Madrid and  Portugal.

Ronaldo defeated Barcelona’s Lionel Messi as well as Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann to secure the reward on Monday. Ronaldo had actually previously been called in the FIFPro Globe 11, while Leicester City boss Claudio Ranieri was declared the FIFA coach of the Year honor.
