Nepal has been banned for participating in the AFC U16 Championship, India 2016 after the Asian country fielded over aged players in the qualifiers held at Kyrgyzstan.

Nepal banned from AFC U16 Championship

According to AFC, Nepal is fined USD4,500/- for violating Article 55.1 of the AFC Disciplinary Code (Code) in the matches played in Qualifiers against Jordan, Oman and Kyrgyzstan. In accordance with Article 31 of the AFC Disciplinary code read together with Article 55.1 of the Code, all the opponents have been handed -0 victories in their respective matches. The All Nepal Football Association has also been fined USD10,000/- for violating Article 68 (a) of the Code.

AFC has also warned Nepal that further violation of such rules may lead to the deprivation of the right to take part in a future AFC tournament subject to an age limit and if repeated they will be met with more severe punishment
