When Roy Hodgson named the England squad for friendlies against Lithuania and Estonia scheduled for October second week, Dele Alli was a surprise inclusion for those who havent watch him play.
Tottenham Hotspur midifelder Dele Alli is the newest member of England’s senior squad to be named for Lithuania and Estonia friendlies later this month. The former MK Dons midfielder has been creating an identity of his own after Mauricio Pochettino deployed the England U21 midfielder in Spurs’ defensive midfield.
Alli cost Spurs £5m and after spending rest of the season at MK Dons, Alli came to Spurs early this season and worked his way into the squad. With Ryan Mason, Mousa Dembele and Nabil Bentaleb all out with injury, Pochettino played Dele Alli and Eric Dier in the midfield of 4-2-3-1 formation. Pochettino also sold likes of Etienne Capoue and Paulinho to other clubs and did not buy any replacement.
With Tom Carroll and Dele Alli added up, the Argentine manager’s hopes on youth academy products looks to have worked this time as well. Alli is a complete package for a central midfielder and he can better himself with age. Already making his name among the fans, the midfielder could be striving for greatness with club as well as country.
