Everton have rejected Tottenham Hotspur’s transfer bidĀ for James McCarthy and Spurs might look for other options outside Premier League.

Tottenham step up pursuit for Bender as Everton reject transfer bid for McCarthy

After fending off Chelsea’s attempt to price away John Stones, Everton have been handed another similar task. Tottenham Hotspur finally made an official approach to sign James McCarthy after a season long speculation but the bid has been rejected by Toffees as they insist the player is not for sale. Mauricio Pochettino wants to bolster his midfield after departure of deadwoods from the squad and he finds the quality in Irish International McCarthy. McCarthy has been a lynchpin in Everton squad since his arrival from Wigan and manager Roberto Martinez is keeping hold of his prized asset.

Elsewhere, Spurs are also said to be raiding Borussia Dortmnd as they are watching Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Sven Bender. However, Aubameyang has signed a new contract and ended the speculation but the chances on Bender are still alive. A bid in the region of 10 million pounds could be worth a try in case Pochettino fails to land McCarthy.
