Sergio Ramos has gone from nearly joining Manchester United to being the skipper of Real Madrid after departure of Iker Casillas.

Real Madrid are set to announce Sergio Ramos as their new skipper after Iker Casillas’ move to Portugese side FC Porto. The central defender was said to have disputes over contract extension with Real Madrid and was linked to a move away from Santiago Bernabau. But after the talks with club representatives in recent days, Ramos is said to have agreed a contract extension which will see him stay for at least four years along with captaincy of the team.

Iker Casillas bid farewell to Madrid holding a press conference ahead of his move to Porto. FC Porto have already announced about the arrival of Spanish keeper and with David De Gea rumored to replace Iker Casillas, the captaincy of the team moves into hands of Ramos. It is believed that De Gea will make his move once Manchester United ready a goalkeeper.
