Ukrainian winger Yevhen Konoplyanka has signed for Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid on a free transfer.

Ateltico Madrid snap up Konoplyanka on a free transfer ahead of Sevilla and Tottenham Hotspur

After weeks of transfer speculations linking to various clubs around Europe, Ukrainian winger Yevhen Konoplyanka has signed for Atletico Madrid. The former Dnipro winger played a huge role in his side’s final journey in the UEFA Europa League where they were defeated by Sevilla. Konoplyanka was also linked with a transfer to Sevilla but the board of the club snubbed the chance claiming they acted late to make a move.

English Premier League club Tottenham had their bid rejected in last summer and were said to be making a bid in winter transfer window too. Reports from England suggested that the winger was set to sign for North London club but Chairman Daniel Levy rebuffed the chance. The Mirror also reported that Newcastle United and Stoke City were interested in signing the winger but no formal approaches were made.
