Arsenal were not the team to spend big in the transfer window, but since last two seasons Wenger and co have spent big and saw some decisions go their way while some haven’t. Will they spend big again?

Arsenal transfer roundup - Will Arsene Wenger cash in on Chelsea's Petr Cech?

Arsenal finished third in the league table above Manchester United avoiding play-off for UEFA Champions League group stage draw for next season. Arsenal’s season this time was much dependent upon summer singing from Barcelona Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean International became the top scorer for the side as well as one of the top assist maker as he scored 16 goals and delivered 8 assists this term.

However, Arsenal and Injuries never fail to part away in an English Premier League season. The story was not so different this season and due to the injuries, Nacho Monreal, a left back with 178cm height was forced to play nine games as a center back. Despite having four top quality center halves, the injuries forced Wenger to take the chance. Similarly in the goalkeeping department, both Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina were ruled out because of injuries. Same problem was in the midfield where youth academy graduate Francis Coquelin played more than half part of the season despite being fifth choice at the start of the season.

However, the rise of players like Hector Bellerin and Francis Coquelin has saved Wenger some money to be spent. Arsenal were said to be interested in Morgan Schneiderlin at the start of the season, which they are now too but will not need to make it the top priority. Bellerin’s improvement has built up healthy competition with Mathieu Debuchy as well.

However, with Szczesny set to leave and Ospina not up to the mark, Wenger is eyeing a move for Petr Cech. Cech has spent most part of the season on bench behind Courtois and could make a move away from the league champions with lots of years left behind him.

Wenger will also look for a forward in the window with Giroud being the only in form recognized striker in the team. Christian Benteke, Charlie Austin and Danny Ings are being named as potential targets and with time, Wenger will sort out the situation to snap up one of these or any other.
