Spain play Ukraine with an eye on the top spot of Group C

Spain have an eye on the top position as they are second in the group with 3 points less than leaders Slovakia

In the last three meetings between the sides, Spain have managed two victories while one of the games have ended in a draw. The most recent match between the side was played nearly a decade ago as Spain thrashed Ukraine 4-0 in 2006 World Cup. David Villa scored a brace while Fernando Torres and Xabi Alonso scored a goal each back then.

Spain are in the second position in the Group C table while Ukraine are close behind with same 9 points. Spain stand above Ukraine because of their superior goal difference of +10 while Ukraine have just +5. Spain have lost one game in the qualifiers, 2-1 against Slovakia. Ukraine also faced their only loss against the same opponent.

Spain will play Netherlands after completion of this match while Ukraine are due to face Latvia a couple of days later.
