With Nemanja Matic suspended and John Obi Mikel missing out through injury, Jose Mourinho might make a few surprises while selecting team. GiveMeGoal looks at possible tactics Jose Mourinho might make in midfield in the cup final.

Three ways Jose Mourinho can cover Matic's suspension in final

Three ways Jose Mourinho can cover Matic’s suspension in final

1. Fabregas and Ramires

Cesc Fabregas and Ramires played as Central midfielders after Matic was sent off against Burnley. The same pair was used when Matic was suspended and Chelsea faced their first defeat of the season from the hands of Newcastle United. The move might not be as effective in defensive third but Ramires’ pace and power offers new dimension in attacking third.

2. Ivanovic as CDM

Branislav Ivanovic is in rich goalscoring form this season and with lots of competition in defensive third, Mourinho might make a surprising inclusion of two wingbacks with Ivanovic being used as CDM to replace fellow countrymen Matic. Cesar Azpillicueta can operate as right back and Filipe Luis will have a chance to make a mark in first final with his new club.

3. Oscar dropping deep with Cuadrado and Willian

Jose Mourinho is all determined to win his first title of the season and might opt for an attacking lineup with Matic out suspended. New signing Juan Cuadrado and Willian will play in the wings with Eden hazard playing in No.10 rolr behind top scorer Diego Costa. Oscar will drop deeper to support Cesc Fabregas in the midfield.
