Javier Hernandez nominated for CONCACAF Player of the Year 2014

Hernandez, commonly known as Chicharito is on loan at Real Madrid and is a surprise nomination given his limited playing time in both parent club and current club. Chicharito’s inclusion was not the only surprise as In form Real Sociedad and fellow Mexican winger, Carlos Vela was not nominated amongst the top 10. The Mexican has been in fine form this year and was considered one of the top challenger for the award. The former Arsenal forward is thriving under new management of the club under David Moyes.

Chicharito is joined by Celso Borger and Rafael Marquez in the nominations. Costa Rica Internationals Bryan Ruiz, Joel Campbell and Keylor Navas also have made the cut while Mexican shot stopper Guillermo Ochoa is in the nominatins along with striker Giovani Dos Santos. American International and Everton Goalkeeper Tim Howard is also included in the list along with his international team-mate Clint Dempsey.

The award is given to the best player from Central America, the North American Confederation and the Caribbean and will be presented at the upcoming Ballon d’Or Gala.
