Nepal U23 team in pitted along with South Asian champions Afghanistan, Iran, Palestine and Saudi Arabia in AFC U23 championship qualifiers. The qualifiers will feature 43 nations in 10 groups who compete for their place in 2016 AFC U23 matches in Qatar.
Nepal is grouped along with Iran, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Palestine and all qualification matches of the group will be played at Iran.
All South Asian nations excluding Bhutan has shown their participation in the qualifiers. Players born on or after 1 January, 1993 are eligible to participate for the age limit competition.
Ten group winners along with five best second placed teams will make their place in the finals of the tournament along with hosts Qatar. The three best teams in the 2016 championship in Qatar will represent Asia in Olympic games.
Iraq are the defending champions of the tournament while Saudi Arabia, grouped along with Nepal are runner-ups of the 2013 edition.
