MMC registered 2-1 victory against the host Sri Lankan Air Force coming from 1-0 behind. MMC conceded in the fifth minute and Shiva Shrestha equalized in the 35th minute. Anil Gurung scored the winning penalty in the 16th minute of the second half.
Speaking with the press after the match, MMC coach Nabin Neupane said.” In the first half there was a lot of pressure as they went ahead early. But once we got our equalizer we were able to find our natural rhythm and dominate the game.”
Talking about the today’s tactics Neupane added.” As we played with five midfielders, we were able to pack the middle and dominate ball possession.”
Neupane added for the next match against HTTU, ” In our next match, however, we will look to instead play on the counter-attack, as FC HTTU are physical and strong.”
MMC will face FC HTTU, the Turkmenistan club on Monday as a victory would confirm MMC’s place in the final of the tournament.
