With the catalan custodian not fit until December, the 32 years old free man Victor Valdes could be great option for Brenden Rodger to add a competition around the regular custodian Simon Mignolet ahead of Jones as Liverpool are believed to enter final negotiation with the Spanish goalkeeper.

Valdes who has more than 500 games with Barcelona has been released this summer and may enter in a deadline move with Liverpool FC that begin their Champions league group stage, having grouped with Real Madrid.

As Rodgers has hinted Liverpool are still expecting to land one player, it might be free man Valdes on his way to the merseyside as they have been long linked to bring on a goalkeeper to compete with Belgium international.

Victor Valdes who suffered a cruciate ligament injury will be available from December and will add serious competition to Mignolet.
