Xavi is free to leave Barcelona

Spanish International midfielder Xavi Hernandez is set to join New York City FC after failing to sign a contract with FC Barcelona. The 34-year old revelaed in June that he will be playing no further part in Barcelona’s team and will look for move elsewhere. Xavi is said to have signed three year contract with the club.

New York have already signed Xavi’s Spanish team-mate David Villa and English Midfielder Frank Lampard. Both of these will be laying for sister club of New York, Melbourne Heart until the start of MLS. However, Xavi is unlikely to follow these duo to play in Australia.

Barcelona have already left their association with Carles Puyol, Xavi Hernandez, Victor Valdes and Cesc fabregas since the arrival of Luis Enrique in the management hot-seat. They have signed Ter-Stegen, Claudio Bravo, Ivan Rakitic and Luis Suarez as the replacements. There are also rumors that Brazilian defender Marquinhos might be joining the spanish giants in days to come.
