Chelsea are set to play their first match of the pre season vs Wycombe Wanderers.
Matic will start in the game
Chelsea are appearing for the first time this season in a pre season friendly and they will have a strong team traveling with them despite their World Cup participants yet to be back. They have good combination of youth and experience. They also have been active in the transfer market with some high profile signings already confirmed.
Diego Costa has joined the team with fellow Spaniard Cesc Fabregas also in the squad for this season. Costa’s fellow team-mate in Atletico Madrid, Brazilian left back Filipe Luis has been confirmed by Chelsea but all these players will not be playing today. Mark Schwarzer will be guarding the post in absence of Thibaut Courtois and Petr Cech is yet to be fully recovered from the knock he received later stages of last season.
Terry will lead the backline along with Branislav Ivanovic and promising youngster Kurt Zouma. Ryan Bertanrand will be in the left back after havin a good season with Aston Villa in later part of the season on loan. Nemanja Matic will play in holding midfielder with another young talent Chalaboah. Lucas Piazon will be getting a rare game in Chelsea shirt after playing with Vitesse last term. Mohamed Salah will start on wings while Bamford will lead the line as he did for Derby last season.
Jose Mourinho has made it clear that he will be vying for the title this season as well, after failing to reach anywhere near it last term. They are preparing well for the season and will be expecting that they will be joined by the world cup squad players soon. Baker will also start behind bamford as attacking midfielder.
