RUMORS: Sagar Thapa, Sandip Rai and Biraj Maharjan to be included in U23 team for Asian Games

According to close source from All Nepal Football Association, all three senior players to travel with U23 team will be defenders.

Skipper Sagar Thapa will be included in the team with fellow center back Sandip Rai and full back Biraj Maharjan according the sources. With lots of attacking strength in the youth team, this seems to be the wise decision but is yet to be confirmed. However, the likes of talented center halves in the youth team is also impressive and there might rise some questions regarding the selection. The final decision from governing body is expected to arrive on few days.

By the rules of the tournament, three players who are above 23 years can be included in the squad. There will be 24 teams in the tournament with six groups of four teams each. The Asian Games is set to be held in Incheon, South Korea from September 14 to October 3, 2014. But the inaugural match of the football will be played five days earlier than the inauguration of the tournament. Six stadiums have been allocated to host the matches in the Asian games.
