The 35-year old was rewarded with the contract after a strong season guarding the post. The US International joined Everton in 2006 from Manchester United and has been 22nd in club’s list of Appearance makers.

Howard is club’s third choice captain after Phil Jagielka, the club captain and the vice-captain Leon Osman. He set a Premier League club record in 2008-09 season by keeping 16 clean sheets in the campaign.

Howard has been in top form in Everton’s pursuit for top four finish, which also makes him the front runner to guard the post for his national team USA in the upcoming World Cup.

Roberto Martinez, the Everto manager was full of praise for the goalkeeper and said, “For him, in such an important year with the World Cup around the corner, to commit his future for the long term is an incredible moment for the dressing room.”
