Sri Lanka concedes two penalties in the first half which sees them hard toiled against the four times SAFF Championship finalist. Ali Asfaq completes his double hat trick which remains the first double hat trick of the tournament ever.

The sorrow moment started for Sri Lanka in the just fifth minute of the kick off as Asadhulla Abdulla scored the quickest goal of the tournament so far to give Maldives the lead. Sri Lanka’s trouble replicated since their first choice keeper Mohamed Imran was sent off for his tackle on Ali Asfaq who converted the penalty to double the lead. Maldives got another goal through penalty as Asfaq converted the penalty which aided him to break Belal Arezou’s previous record of most goal in the match. Maldives ended 3-0 at the first half final whistle.

Ali Asfaq got his hat trick early in second half scoring in 51st minute of the game. The Maldivian sensational completed his double hat trick which remained the first double hat trick in SAFF Championship ever. Hassan Adhuham and Ali Umar remained other players who scored in Pakistan’s humiliating defeat.
