A close and reliable source disclosed the news and also revealed he was offered NRs 150,000 per month. The club was within top five position and had only 5 points difference with league leaders with 5 matches remaining in Malatese Championship. The club demanded Khawas to leave the national team and join them immediately, which he could not agree on.

The terms with the Maltese side was made possible by former National team coach Graham Roberts who revealed the news to Bharat Khawas during AFC Challenge cup 2012. Unfortunately the only reason Khawas could not join the European side was due to his international duty.

Valletta made to the UEFA Europa League First qualifying round that season ending up third in the league table.
