India wins SAFF u16 second edition championship after Jerry found a long ranger in 19th minute of the game which remained the match decider.

India got first attack in the game as Nepal escaped early scared in 7th minute. Krishna Pandit early attack stroked on Nepali defender to deny the goal. India continued their attack after two 18th minute attack followed by a long ranger goal from Jerry which remained the decisive goal of the match .

After getting back early in the game, Nepal had all the time to come back and continued the effort. Nepal came near to equalizer after Shiva Subedi’s shot in 33rd minute  went inches closer to the target and Nepal failed to equalize despite of continuous effort.

Nepal dominated second half attack from the very beginning.  Nepal’s penalty appeal in 47th minute was denied by Kasun Lakmal.

India could have doubled their lead but shot from Deependra Singh Neg was punched away by Nepalese keeper Roman Rasaili. India failed to capitalize another chance to double the lead in 70th minute as Krishna Pandit failed to score in one vs one situation. Krishna’s shot was directed into Rasaili’s hand.

Bimal Gharti Magar who remained highest goal scorer of the tournament failed to equalize in 84th minute as his shot in single situation was directly over the cross bar.

India confirmed their victory after Ananta Tamang’s shot in last minute of extra time was saved by terrific effort from Indian keeper Dheeraj S. Moirangthem.

Meanwhile Bangladesh registered 1-0 win over Afghanistan to claim third place in the tournament.
