While the remaining players of the England vanguard may be able to limp through Euro 2016, Hodgson will undoubtedly need to delve deep into the national pool to assemble a squad capable of making themselves among the favorites in the Betway Sports odds ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

JackBuckland will captain England U21 against San Marino

Luckily for Roy, England under-17s won the 2010 European Championships, and come 2018 these players will be mature 25-year-olds who will provide the bedrock for an England team aiming for a successful trip. Below we look at some of the players from that side who we should expect to see turning out for England in the future…

Conor Coady

The Liverpool midfielder captained the team to success; he has represented his country at every level up to England under-20s. He is the current Liverpool under-20s captain and made his first-team debut in last season’s game against Fulham. The combative midfielder is currently on loan at League 1 side Sheffield United and has featured seven times for the Blades. There is a lot of buzz around this player and Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has earmarked him as a potential Steven Gerrard replacement.

Ross Barkley

A fellow Liverpudlian, this Everton player needs very little introduction. After spending his early career on the fringes of the Everton squad, Barkley has burst onto the scene this season. He has played seven Premier League games this season and scored twice. He has also managed to gain a cap for the full England side. If Barkley continues with his current form it wouldn’t be surprising to see him board the plane to Rio next year. Barkley really is the future of English football and once he is fully developed he will be able to fill the void left by the out-going Frank Lampard.

Jack Butland

Another player who has burst onto the international scene, the Stoke ‘keeper made it into the England squad for Euro 2012 and was the first-choice ‘keeper for the Great Britain team in the 2012 Olympics. In January, Stoke acquired his services from Birmingham for a reported £3.5million. He’s currently on loan at Barnsley in the Championship; with 71 competitive games under his belt, Butland is improving at an unprecedented rate. He is a solid goalkeeper who will soon be challenging Joe Hart for the number one jersey, and will most likely be part of the 2014 World Cup squad.

Nathaniel Chalobah

The youngest player of the victorious 2010 team at the ripe old age of 15, this defender won critical acclaim for his performances last year at Watford. The Chelsea player is currently on-loan at Nottingham Forrest. With bags of potential this youngster looks like a readymade replacement for John Terry both at club and international level.

There can be no denying that England have talented youngsters. If these players as well as other youngsters such as Andre Wisdom, Luke Shaw and Connor Wickham carry on developing, England have a great chance of mounting a successful 2018 World Cup bid.

The five major changes which transformed the face of football http://givemegoal.com/11201/2013/10/the-five-major-changes-which-transformed-the-face-of-football/ http://givemegoal.com/11201/2013/10/the-five-major-changes-which-transformed-the-face-of-football/#comments Tue, 01 Oct 2013 16:33:53 +0000 givemegoal http://givemegoal.com/?p=11201 Ever since it was first invented way back in the 19th Century, association football has changed almost beyond recognition from its amateur roots. It has become a professional, money-making machine loved by billions of people, while it has also embraced the latest technology and state-of-the-art arenas. As proof of how much the sport has changed, here are five key innovations in the sport:

Goal Line

Goal Line Technology

All-seater stadia
A string of high-profile disasters caused by overcrowding in terraces had led to the infamous Taylor Report, which demanded that all stadia in the English Football League be all-seater venues. This change has made the majority of football grounds safer and more family-friendly, and has alsoplayed a part in making tickets more expensive!
The offside rule
The original rule was brought in back in 1863 and has been tinkered with ever since. It has helped to make the game fairer, but recent tweaks made in 2005 helped to make it easier for attacking players, serving to make the game a little easier on the eye for fans watching in the stands and at home. Some critics say that it’s really hard to understand though!
The back pass rule
In 1962, this rule was brought in to discourage overly-defensive play. Just as hard to understand as the offside rule, it bars goalkeepers from directly catching either throw-ins or airborne passes from their team-mates. It’s rarely breached nowadays, so perhaps it’s working in helping to spread the word of fair play.
Artificial grass
In its infancy during the 1980’s artificial surfaces were derided by players and coaches, and were seen as ripe for injuries. Fortunately, the quality of such surfaces has changed immeasurably, as a spokesperson from Hitechturf.co.uk said:
“ Technology in artificial grass has come a long way since the late 80′s and artificial grass pitches are now manufactured from polyethylene rather than nylon, this has meant that these new turfs havebeen approved by FIFA and UEFA” , they commented.
Goal-line technology
After much deliberation over the subject,Premier League clubs decided to bring it in from the start of this season. Its purpose is to try and put an end to dubious decisions over whether or not the ball has crossed the line, something which, in the case of Bolton Wanderers during the 1997/98 season, proved very costly.

Lucas: I still needed to prove something here http://givemegoal.com/11178/2013/03/lucas-i-still-needed-to-prove-something-here/ http://givemegoal.com/11178/2013/03/lucas-i-still-needed-to-prove-something-here/#comments Mon, 25 Mar 2013 14:49:32 +0000 givemegoal http://givemegoal.com/?p=11178 Liverpool player and Brazilian international Lucas Leiva insisted he thought of leaving Liverpool when reds were in charge of Roy Hudgson.

Lucas joined Liverpool in 2007 and he nearly get chance in field with senior team as Alonso, Mascherano, Sissoko and Christian Poulsen were at their pick.

In recent talk with Liverpool’s official website Lucas revealed that he thought of leaving the club during Roy Hugdson era but the arrival of legendary Kenny stopped him from doing so. He also stated he had numerous chances to go back in Brazil but he didn’t want to.

Lucas said.” I felt as though it was almost the end for me at the club, I nearly left. I knew they were looking for players. They signed Christian Poulsen at the time, and that was a message for me, that I was not really in their plans. So I was really close to leaving to go to Italy. For some reason I did not go, I stayed.”

Lucas feels happy that some people who doesn’t trust on his development feels sorry now.

Lucas added.” Maybe if I didn’t care about my career it would have been different. It could have been easy for me to say: ‘I want to go back to Brazil and play my football there’. I had a lot of chances to leave the club through mutual consent.  But I always felt that there was something saying to me that I still needed to prove something here.”

Understanding betting odds in Sports betting http://givemegoal.com/11153/2013/02/sports-betting-terms/ http://givemegoal.com/11153/2013/02/sports-betting-terms/#comments Thu, 28 Feb 2013 05:15:24 +0000 Dipendra Pokharel http://givemegoal.com/?p=11153 Before you get into sports betting, it is really important to know some basic ideas so that you would not face any problems while you bet in real time.

Betting is never easy if you are not familiar with some terms and there are somethings that you need to take serious as betting on sports can be very profitable or sometimes turn into worst nightmares.

A person who places a bet is called a punter , a punter knows how much he gets if his prediction meets correct through the odds displayed.

There are three different ways on which the odds can be displayed. They are displayed either in decimal(2.00), fractional way(2/1) or American style of betting +200.

Suppose, if the grand national offers you the odd of 2.0, this means you earn 10$ when you bet 5$

If you read the odds in fraction, then the easiest way to get the idea is by converting it to decimal. So if your odds read (4) by (2), you simply divide it which gives 2. This means you get 10$ back if your deposited 5$ betting prediction goes correct.

In the American style of betting, the betting odds are displayed in positive numbers or negative numbers. Suppose if your betting odds reads (-140), you must risk 140$ in order to win 100$ back plus your deposited money. Meanwhile if your odds reads (140), this means you need to deposit 100$ which earns you 140$ plus your money back.

So when you are aware about betting odds, you might clearly understand how much you could earn or loss while you place a bet.

Usually the odds are constantly changing based on the perception and current information. Odds could be considered as bookmaker’s suggestion on the match.

The reason of downfall of Manchester City http://givemegoal.com/11141/2013/02/the-reason-of-downfall-of-manchester-city/ http://givemegoal.com/11141/2013/02/the-reason-of-downfall-of-manchester-city/#comments Tue, 26 Feb 2013 19:13:48 +0000 givemegoal http://givemegoal.com/?p=11141 Manchester City, a club with little to none history compared to the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool has had sensational rise to power in the Barclays Premier League in recent years. The rise of their supremacy has been powered by the Arab money, a typical example of modern football. Being labeled ‘the noisy neighbors’, they had their fair share of success last season after dismantling Manchester United by beating QPR  on injury time .

However, the fairy tale has not continued this season. Their form this season can be now said as disappointing, having been out of Champions league and 12 points behind their bitter rivals Manchester United on the league.  How can league winning team be so disappointing this season?

Despite the points gap between the two city rivals, the City fans are not willing to give up their hopes of defending the title just yet, supported by the fact that sales of tickets to see Manchester City live are still not dropping

City’s disappointing season is due to the ineffectiveness of their manager Mancini, fans believe. His inability to deal with the egos of big players Tevez, Balotelli and Dzeko has caused problems in the dressing room. Tevez being AWOL for so long was pardoned with minimal punishment and how can we forget the ever so volatile Balotelli. His dip in form has cost City dearly this season. Dzeko has already stated his dissatisfaction by being labeled as super sub. And all of that blame goes to Mancini; he has failed to satisfy his group of superstars. Assembling quality players may not always guarantee results, gelling the chemistry of players is ever so important. Roberto Mancini threw off his tactical caution of last season, deciding instead to play an assertive 4-4-2, with Gareth Barry and Yaya Touré in midfield, and Sergio Aguero playing off either Mario Balotelli or Edin Dzeko. However, this season City tried 3-4-1-2 formation that Mancini has brought from Italy days. Playing this formation brings lot of pressure to defense and highly volatile to counter attack. The players look highly uncomfortable with this formation and their pillar of last season Kompany, Silva and Toure out of form, what more can they expect?

However, the fact that, in a wide range of sports tickets, those of Manchester City are among the top demanded, shows us that the fans still believe their heroes will find the same form that helped them beat city rivals in the previous title race.

Roberto Mancini

Having won the league last season, Mancini’s next mission was to win the Champions League but the typical 4-4-2 formation flopped badly last season after being humiliated in the group stages and sure the pressure was on him to change the formation to cope with the Europe. But this new formation has not been responded properly by the players. The same panache and hunger in the team cannot be seen in the players. With such quality players being second choice is simply not acceptable. Maybe, it’s time for a change in the managerial department in City. All they can do now is damage limitation and plan for next season.
