Andre Villas-Boas has asserted he will take a year out of football when he leaves Zenit toward the end of the season, in spite of being connected with Valencia.

The Portuguese mentor affirmed in September a year ago that he would withdraw Zenit toward the end of the Russian Premier League season, having become baffled after an administration drove change in squad regulations constrained the offer of star striker Salomon Rondon to West Brom.

The crusade has seen Villas-Boas hit with a six-diversion touchline boycott for facing an authority and Zenit slip to fourth in the table, confronting vulnerability over Champions League capability therefore.

Valencia will be on the search for another mentor for next season after Gary Neville was sacked a week ago and his previous colleague Pako Ayestaran was set in control until the end of the crusade.

“It was superb to be here, I’ll generally consider Russia my home, Zenit have been awesome, the board and the president, Mr Miller have been brilliant to me and I can just express gratitude toward them and I’m extremely appreciative to them and the club.

“I will do a reversal to my family in Portugal and for the most part likely quit instructing for one year, this is a choice I have brought with my family and nothing will transform it.”
