Sturridge: Nobody wants to sit on the bench
22 year old English International Striker played last season as a winger in the first half of the season and in rest he was benched. Now he targets the regular start as a striker.
Sturridge was widely criticized for his play in the second half of the season and was rarely used by Roberto Di Matteo. He was one of the best performer for blues in the first half of the season as he was used mostly as a winger. But this term after Drogba already leave Chelsea for new Chinese challenge Sturridge can be the man in front for Chelsea as he has already shown his desire to play in front. Sturridge bagged 13 goals last season for Chelsea.
Talking with Chelseafc.com Sturridge said.” Nobody wants to sit on the bench so it’s important for me this season to be playing regularly and show everybody what I’m capable of doing as a centre-forward, Collectively, winning trophies is what everybody wants to do. On a personal level, I just want to be playing regular first team football.”
He added.” Hopefully this season I’ll be playing up front, so whoever the manager signs or wants to bring in, it only gives me the impetus to want to do better. It’s important that you take your opportunities when they come along.”
Sturridge was also one of the best performer for Great Britain in the Olympic 2012.
