The FA cup winners and the league title holders will give a smell of the start of new footballing season after they meet in Community shield title, both team expecting to add one more silverware to their name.
Chelsea as the FA cup winner and Manchester as the league title owners will play in the English super cup title at Villa Park — Birmingham as Wembley is in use as a part of Olympics 2012. With both the teams having issue in the squad selection, it is unlikely they will start with their full strengthen squad. With players like Barry and Richards out of the squad, Manchester City will encounter problem if they miss their captain Kompany who is an odd one with calf injury.
Similarly Chelsea probably unlikely to feature Oscar and Mata who were out in their international duty for Olympics.
Manchester City will be keeping an eye on the silverware which last year just slipped over their hands when they lost to their rivals Manchester United. The three times Super cup winners played at the Community shield as the FA cup winners.
In the other hand, Chelsea has won the title four times back which includes three wins in this Century while one was back in 1955.
Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Cole, Mikel; Ramires, Lampard, Meireles, Hazard, Torres.
Chelsea might start without Mata and Oscar. Hazard will debut for Chelsea in crucial match after he featured in some friendly tour.
Manchester City: Hart, Zabaleta, K Toure, Lescott, Kolarov, Y Toure, De Jong; A Johnson, Tevez, Nasri, Aguero.
The league winners will certainly be without Gareth Barry and Micah Richards while Kompany is still doubt. Barry is out as he has failed to recover his hip injury which kept him away from Euro 2012 squad. Similarly Richards picked up an ankle injury during a quarter defeat against South Korea in mens Olympic football.
With absence of Juan Mata, Chelsea might play a 4-3-3 formation while Manchester City might stick with 4-4-2 formation playing Tevez and Aguero at front.
Chelsea has not been good in their friendly matches as they lost 3 in their 5 last match, drawn one and won one while City has been able to win all their five matches at recent.
When these two teams met each other in the league last season, both were able to register 2-1 win in their respective home. As we compare all time head to head, blues dominated the figure having enjoyed 55 wins to City’s 43, with 36 matches resulting in a draw.
Recent Forms has been confirmed from Goal.com
With major loss in the squad due to injury, we predict Chelsea add one more silverware into their name. Hazard might shine in the match making the scores float on Chelsea’s side.
Chelsea 2-1 Manchester City
